The maximum allowable contribution per election cycle is $2,500 per person. Legally married couples may give up to $5,000 from common funds, but both signatures must be named specifically on the bank account contributing the funds. Each election year has two cycles; a Primary Election and a General Election. As an example, an individual may contribute a maximum of $2500.00 before the Republican Party Primary Election (August 2014) and an additional $2500.00 between any necessary Run-off Election and November 4, 2014 (General Election Day). It is not permissible to combine these maximum totals in any way. The purchase of a ticket for admittance to a campaign fund raiser is legally considered a campaign contribution.
All direct financial contributions from corporations and foreign nationals are prohibited by federal election laws. Partnership contributions with unincorporated partners are permitted, providing you indicate which unincorporated partner the contribution should be attributed to and the amount to be attributed.
